The whole family/whānau need support too ...

Kids are resilient.  They’re flexible, naturally good humoured and, with the right support, can usually adjust well to life’s changes.  They don’t often sweat the small stuff, may appear to barely flinch at the big stuff and can develop great coping mechanisms.  Family/Whānau or Caregivers on the other hand . . . well let’s just say that we struggle!

Rainbow Place Parent and Caregivers: Morning Tea

Kids are resilient.  They’re flexible, naturally good humoured and, with the right support, can usually adjust well to life’s changes.  They don’t often sweat the small stuff, may appear to barely flinch at the big stuff and can develop great coping mechanisms.  Family/Whānau or Caregivers on the other hand . . . well let’s just say that we struggle!

Come and join us for an informal gathering of Parents & Carer’s of children and young people receiving the support of Rainbow Place.

This group is the ideal place to share similar experiences in a supportive environment amongst friends who can truly relate to situations regarding children and young people living with life-limiting/life threatening conditions.

The journey when caring for a child or young person who is unwell can often be isolating. Rainbow Place hosts the morning tea for parents and carers to connect, share stories, wisdom and support each other.

Meetings will be each month. Sometimes they may have various themes depending on the interests of parents and carers; such as, caring for ourselves, communication, budgeting,

WINZ entitlements, Legal issues, Equipment and more. Our facilities are wheelchair friendly and children and young people, including siblings are welcome to attend.

Please let us know if you are attending, by phoning Hospice administration on 07 859 1260, a week beforehand.

Time to Download Emotions
The hardest thing for children and young people is watching their caregiver(s) not coping or struggling to deal with the changes that are going on.  Rainbow Place provides support, guidance, comfort and peace of mind for parents of children and young people who are seriously ill or grieving, or who are themselves affected by serious illness  and are worried about how their children will cope.

In Partnership with Family/Whānau

We love getting caregivers involved with Rainbow Place.  Having a strong working partnership with caregivers is vital in the total programme of care and support.  It helps us look after children and young people so much better.  We also offer caregivers the opportunity to connect with other caregivers who are going through the same 'tough stuff'.

Although Rainbow Place mainly focuses on children and young people we can support them so much better with family/whānau on-board.  So please  . . . get in touch with us.  We’d love  to help you support your children..
